Why and How to Disable User Registration Signup in Joomla 3 versions 3.x

The out-of-the-box (default) settings in Joomla 3.0 3.1 3.2 3.3 3.4 3.5 3.6 3.7 3.8 allow any visitors to your website to register and create new user accounts within your Joomla! installation. This is almost always a-bad-idea - very few websites need to have registered users, and if you are not giving "edit" capabilities (i.e. not running a forum) then you will want to disable user registration in Joomla 3.x.
Here are the steps to perform for disabling new user registrations in Joomla 3 To disable user registration, set Allow User Registration to No, and then click the Save button in the top left of the page.
  1. Log into your Joomla 3.x Admin Dashboard (backend)
  2. In the menu select Users and then User Manager
  3. Click on the Options tab
  4. Select the Components tab
  5. Switch Allow User Registration to No
  6. Click "Save"

After disabling the "allow user registration" option the Create an account link on the Login Form will no longer be displayed.
