Why must I continually update my Wordpress Application

Why must I keep upgrading my Wordpress application.

As with any computer hardware or software systems, Wordpress is continually being improved upon and upgraded to make a better experience for the end user.  This however means that older, versions then become vulnerable and easy targets by hackers.  Some of these attacks can not only be catastrophic to your own applications and web use, but are a nightmare in a shared hosting scenario.

This is not an automatic process and you must take the responsibility of checking and applying any upgrades as they come along.  When a new version of WordPress is available you will receive an update message in your WordPress Admin Screens, or you can make a note to visit https://wordpress.org/download/ , or if you have any doubts please contact our support team who will be more than happy to talk you through the process.

By not upgrading your Wordpress application you are allowing hackers access to your data, your website and your emails.  They are able to change the content on your website which in most cases is distressing, can result in a loss of business and can take some time in correcting.  Also you may find that some of the vital functionality of your website will stop working as it may no longer be supported and inopperable unless  you continually keep up to date with the changes.

As a host we will immediately suspend your account in an attempt to protect our network and other users sharing the same hosting service from being affected by any vulnerabilities.
